Hi, I’m Molly — based in the desert heat of southeast New Mexico, I’m the illustrator, pattern designer, and creative heart behind Molly’s Design Co. I create colorful, whimsical, and playful artwork inspired by the simple, beautiful moments that often go unnoticed in everyday life.

My love for art started when I was young, from coloring in coloring books, to doodles in notebooks, my imagination pretty much spilled into everything I touched. That early spark never left. Today, I pour that same childlike wonder into every pattern and illustration I create.

My style is rooted in storytelling — bright colors, vivid shapes, joyful details, and a sense of lightness that feels approachable and fun. Whether I’m designing for small business owners, makers, or fellow creatives, my goal is always the same: to bring a little magic into your world and help your brand or project feel uniquely you.

Every design begins with something simple — a color palette from a quiet morning, a pattern found in nature, or a moment that made me smile. Those tiny sparks become the foundation of my work, reminding me that creativity is all around us if we slow down enough to notice.

A new era of design is here…

I found that I love creating hand-drawn illustration work. I started making seamless patterns and other types of digital art and it felt like it brought me back to life.

I realized that I could turn simple, everyday things around me into a pattern. From being outdoors in my garden, spending time with my family, or just taking time to notice the unnoticed things in life, I started to become inspired, and started creating.

It is my goal in this new year to expand my illustration work onto stationery pieces and stickers, and who knows… maybe it will happen sooner than we think! Stay tuned for more to come in the next few months!

My Creative Process

Collect Inspiration

The first steps in my creative process is to gather inspiration -whether it’s from my garden, a treasured experience, memories, nostalgia, a trending motif or design-I like to put together boards of textures, shapes, illustrations, and colors to get a vibe for the style of the project.

I love to sketch out any illustrations that come to mind. This phase of the project is really drafting and sketching the starting point of the design, how it might be placed, and what other motifs or elements might flow together the best. I will work on this phase until I feel that it’s ready to move into the final phase.

Ideation & Sketching

This is where the real fun begins in the project. Refining in Procreate and Illustrator! In this phase, the project starts to come to life with color, finer details, maybe some shading if needed. All motifs and elements go into their final composition. At the end of a project, I love to create mockups to show off the design piece in real life, and that’s the best part of it all - of what the design could turn into and how it can bring joy to someone else as well.
